// About Us

Built for the moment Google moves the ground under you.

AlgoUpdateTimes exists because “did my traffic drop because of an update, or because of me?” shouldn’t take an hour of scrolling through forums to answer. We track Google Search algorithm updates as they happen and build tools that turn that tracking into something you can actually use.

Why this matters

Google rolls out major algorithm changes several times a year, and each one can move rankings for millions of pages within days. For site owners, publishers, and SEOs, that creates a recurring problem: when traffic drops, it’s genuinely hard to tell whether Google shifted its algorithm, a competitor outranked you, or something on your own site broke. Getting that diagnosis wrong wastes weeks — you might rebuild content that was never the issue, or wait passively for a “recovery” that was never coming. We started AlgoUpdateTimes to close that gap with a clear, dated record of what Google actually changed and when.

What we track

Every time Google confirms a core update, a spam update, or a Discover-specific update, we log it: when it started rolling out, when it finished, how severe it appeared to be, and what it was actually built to target. We keep this record current rather than treating it as a one-time list, because an update’s real impact often only becomes clear a few weeks after it lands, once the full rollout has settled and enough sites have reported changes.

The tools we built

Reading about updates only helps so much. We built two free tools to make that data actionable the moment you need it.

Update Impact Checker

Enter the date your traffic or rankings shifted, and instantly see whether a confirmed Google update was rolling out that day — including its severity and rollout progress.

Domain Authority Checker

Look up any domain’s authority score to see how the site is trending — useful for spotting a real, link-graph-level drop after an update, not just a rankings blip.

How we cover the rest

Beyond update tracking, we publish practical guides on diagnosing and recovering from ranking drops, foundational SEO explainers for people newer to the field, and general coverage of search marketing topics. Our recovery content is written to be actionable rather than theoretical — real audit steps and content decisions, not just “focus on quality” advice that’s true but unhelpful. The beginner-focused pieces are there so newer site owners aren’t left out of a conversation that can otherwise feel gatekept by jargon. You’ll find all of this organized under a few categories:

Independence and accuracy

AlgoUpdateTimes is an independently run publication. We’re not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Google in any way — our update timelines are compiled from public announcements and rollout tracking, and our authority scores come from open web link-graph data rather than a proprietary index we control. We work to keep both accurate and up to date, but we’re also realistic about the limits of any third-party dataset: rollout windows can shift, and authority scores are a signal, not a guarantee. Where we get something wrong, we’d rather correct it quickly than leave it standing, which is exactly why the contact link below exists — if a date looks off or a description doesn’t match what you saw in your own analytics, we want to hear about it.
